Biography

Mrs. Casteel Morgan was born in Albuquerque, NM but spent her childhood moving around the United States, Germany and the Netherlands as a military brat. After graduating from Ansbach American High School in Ansbach, Germany, she returned to Albuquerque where she has been working in the Healthcare field for over 12 years. She is the administrative assistant for UNM HSC’s Institute for Indigenous Knowledge and Development. At IIKD she also calls upon her extensive experience in program coordination, budget development and event planning. She is currently taking a break from her studies as an undergraduate student at the University of New Mexico, where she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in English. In the pursuit of her writing career, she presented, “The Politics of Identity: The Mixed Blood Female Character in Native American Literature” at the March 2011 Native American Literature Symposium. It is her dream to teach English Literature and Rhetoric with emphasis on Native and African American literatures.
