Regionalization of Care Research

Led by Principal Investigator, Dr. Robert Sapien and co-investigator, Dr. Tassy Parker, Child Ready’s mission is to reduce pediatric morbidity and mortality by partnering with communities, facilities, and health care providers to ensure that they have the resources and capabilities to provide effective, culturally-appropriate care for ill and injured children, and by developing prevention strategies with each community.

The program will primarily focus on the following four areas of intervention:

  1. Preparing communities to care for the ill or injured child
  2. Preparing facilities to care for the ill or injured child
  3. Preparing providers to care for the ill or injured child
  4. Conducting prevention activities to reduce the number of ill or injured children.

This can be accomplished by the following:

  • Development of assessment templates in all 4 areas to determine pediatric emergency health care needs which is designed with the help of the Child Ready Pediatric Advisory Council.
  • Site visits to each community to conduct focus groups and complete assessment templates for evaluation and implementation of a sustainable Child Ready system in each community.
