CNAH and IIKD attends American Indian Day at the State Capital

February 5, 2016

Staff members Micah Clark, Norman Cooeyate, and Nathania Tsosie from the Center of Native American Health (CNAH) and the Institute for Indigenous Knowledge and Development (IIKD) attended the American Indian Day at the State Capital on February 5, 2016 in Santa Fe, NM. American Indian Day is an annual opportunity for CNAH-IIKD to engage with the community, tribal leadership and New Mexico State leaders about the services available at the CNAH and the IIKD.

At American Indian Day, Micah Clark, workforce navigator provided activities to engage with the youth and allowing her to speak with them about future plans and aspiration and how CNAH is able to assist. Nathania, Associate Director also engaged with visitors at the CNAH-IIKD table. Ms. Tsosie stated a highlight for her was hearing about the letter of recognition Senator Pinto wrote for Lynda Lovejoy (former Democratic member of the NM Senate) highlighting her contributions to the state. Norman was given an opportunity to speak on behalf of CNAH-IIKD to the public and tribal leaders about student development, community resources, and workforce development.

We would like to thank the Indian Affairs Department for inviting CNAH and IIKD to be part of American Indian Day at the capital.
