Community Mentorship Program

CNAH Mentorship program

The Community Mentorship Program strengthens the student pipeline from UNM Main to UNM Health Sciences Center (HSC) through peer-to-peer mentoring to cultivate future Native health professionals from undergraduate to graduate level programs.

Graduate students build leadership skills as a mentor by sharing personal stories of their academic journey and guiding their mentees through the admission process at UNM HSC. Undergraduate students build connections as a mentee by gaining experience in their prospective programs and working closely with their mentor in developing a competitive application.

Matched participants represent UNM Main from majors like biochemistry, biology, chemistry, emergency medicine, nursing and community health education. Mentors represent UNM HSC from the School of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing and the UNMH Residency Program.
